Unspoken Words is an audiovisual journey that unfolds in 13 short films. The visual artists were personally selected and the entire project creatively directed by Max Cooper. It is a meditative meta-narrative about the artists’ inner struggle for expression and our collective journey to find our place in the world.
Unspoken Words is Max Cooper’s most insightful work to date, taking the listener through experiences of escapism and connection with personal stories of reflection, acceptance, confrontation, idealism and rejection.
Cooper reflects on his state of consciousness and illuminates the universal experience of being human. Unspoken Words provides a common ground, a unifying space for anyone facing inner turmoil and feeling the need for greater connection and expression.
Speaking about the process of writing Unspoken Words, Max said: “I find that existence in my head is a sometimes beautiful, sometimes intense, sometimes raw, chaotic, confusing and relentless experience, and I tried to pack as much of that feeling and form into the album as I could.”
Max Cooper has carved out a unique place for himself as an audiovisual artist with a PhD in science and an international reputation as a leading electronic musician.
His work is characterized by emotional resonance and sensory immersion, often focusing on man’s place in the world. In his installations, live performances, immersive audiovisual experiences, a range of digital media and award-winning music videos, he combines electronic music and visual art with scientific inquiry.
Unspoken Words is Cooper’s sixth studio album and the latest in an impressive back catalog that dates back to 2007, when he combined his studies in computational biology with work as a DJ in a local techno club.
He recently provided the music for a powerful video spoken by Greta Thunberg and Pope Francis, played at COP26, urging world leaders to consider climate and environment in Covid recovery plans. Last year, he was the first techno artist to play at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.
